Hotel Petka

Three Star Hotels
Hotel Petka is located in the Gruž suburb of Dubrovnik, which is an area with the main bus terminal and port. Its very location makes an ideal hotel for guests who are staying in Dubrovnik on business or as part of a round trip. Also, Hotel Petka is a perfect destination for those planning to explore the many islands as the port, from which all trips to the Elaphite islands depart, is in very close vicinity.

The hotel was opened in 1867, which makes Hotel Petka one of the oldest in Dubrovnik. Through the centuries the hotel has been renovated and refurbished many times, the last being in 2007, so that the current hotel is in excellent condition. There are 104 rooms in the hotel, of which 96 are double and 8 single, and all are comfortably and modernly equipped. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and have a mini-bar, wireless Internet connection, telephone and satellite TV. On the premises there are two restaurants as well as an aperitif bar.

The main restaurant has at its disposal room for 200 guests of which 50 are on the terrace in front. “Nostromo” restaurant is popular with locals from Dubrovnik due to its a la carte menu and extensive wine list. The restaurant can seat 120 people and is an ideal place for family gatherings, celebrations, business lunches and for simply enjoying high quality Dalmatian cuisine in a comfortable ambient. Hotel Petka has at its disposal two conference halls. The largest has a capacity of 250 participants in a “theatre” style seating arrangement or up to 120 in a “workshop” seating arrangement. The smaller hall has a capacity for up to 70 participants in a “theatre” style or 40 in a “workshop” style.
Hotel Petka is open throughout the whole year.

A cultural delight
2010-02-06

My partner and myself have just spent a week in Dubrovnik and would like to pass on a few comments that may help other traveller's.
We stayed in the excellently situated 3 star hotel Petka. Contrary to other opinions we found The Petka very suitable to our needs. Location for buses, ferry's, shops, markets etc very good. Views across the water. Friendliness of hotel staff, all good stuff.
The walled city of Dubrovnik itself is magical, plenty to see and do all hours of the day and night. Eating and drinking in the bars, cafes and restaurants was a good gastronomical experience, they would put lot of English establishments to shame. One recommendation to eat in style in a good atmosphere is in the Moby Dick restaurant, one block up from the main drag.
Two places to avoid, first is the Troupador Jazz bar, the staff have no manners and are disrespectful, plus the cost of a drink goes through the roof when the pianist is having a 'tonk' on the keys.
Second is the Konoba Pentatur walkway restaurant, just off the end of the main drag, opposite a church. They have a habit of adding what they call government tax to a bill. this is illegal as all taxes are included in the bill of fare.
Do visit the islands and other places of interest, as travel is cheap and there is some stunning scenery.
Remember crime and drunkenness is virtually non existent so feel safe to stay out late.

Good Tourist Class Hotel with a View
2010-02-06

We stayed at the Hotel Petka while on a Gate 1 Tour of Croatia and Slovenia. The tour director apologized for this hotel because it was rated as tourist class; however, we had no complaints about it. >>> more

Petka practical
2010-02-06

My wife and I stayed at this hotel a week in the beginning of September on our first visit to Croatia and Dubrovnik. Petka was wholly renovated two years ago, but still theres some DDR-feeling in the big dining room where we had breakfast (the worst coffee was served from an automat like the waterish juices. No croissants just some completely chewy dry bread. >>> more
