FORBES: CROATIA RANKS 20TH IN THE WORLD AS THE ECOLOGICALLY CLEANEST COUNTRYThe American Forbes magazine recently listed the ecologically cleanest countries of the world, according to indices by the Yale and Columbia Universities, where Croatia ranked 20th, and 1st among the countries of eastern Europe and central Asia.
 With an Environmental Performance Index (EPI) score of 84.6 out of 100, Croatia ranks 20th in the world on the list of the ecologically cleanest countries, led by Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries. European countries account for 14 out of the top 20 countries.
The Center for International Earth Science Information Network at Columbia University and the Center for Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University developed the Environmental Performance Index to highlight the cleanest countries, while giving those lagging behind the measures needed for improving their own environments and the health of their citizens and tourists.
