Hotel Argentina

Luxury Hotels
Hotel Argentina is the most recent addition to the complex Grand Villa Argentina and along with the Villa Argentina forms the main building of the complex. The hotel is built in harmony with nature and follows the sloping landscape down to the sea. This means that the hotel reception is at street level, or on the sixth floor, and every other floor except one is below. On the ground floor the lift is combined with a tunnel which takes you out to the outside pool and hotel beach.

The vast majority of the rooms have a view over the ancient Old City of Dubrovnik which is only a five minute stroll from the hotel.

Even though Hotel Argentina gives you the impression of being a modern hotel from its façade the interior is furnished in line with Villa Argentina so that every room is similar. Some regular guests prefer the Hotel Argentina more than the Villa Argentina while others delight in the older villa. It is impossible to say whether the Hotel Argentina is more luxurious than the rest of the complex as both more than satisfy the standards of a 5 star hotel and every part of the complex is special in its own way.

3 lovely days there, hideous end that spoilt it
2010-02-06

After reading the latest trip advisor comments we were slightly concerned but there really wasn't any need to be whatsoever!
Our room was in the old part of the hotel and I would recommend you ask for this! we didn't have a balcony but that didn't detract from the room at all, the view was beautiful and we weren't in there long enough to worry!!!
The breakfast selection was lovely and fresh and there are beautiful views to the old town.
Loads of steps to the sea and pool (even after taking the lift down!!) and once you are there isn't a bar and the little restaurant only opens between 12 and 4 so you can't get any drinks after that without going all the way back up to the hotel, for a 5 star hotel this isn't good not to be able to even get water from anywhere.
The bar by Victorias restaurant is superb, lovely and relaxing with great views also.
But, I've saved the worst comment till last and really hope that the management read this!
Our flight home was 9 in the evening and we were being picked up to go to the airport at 7pm.
I asked if we could have a late check out and happy to pay room. We were told on 3 occaisons to come back later and eventually I was told we could keep it till 1pm. When we got back to the room it had been cleaned and the bed changed and made anyway so not sure what the problem was?
We were told that there was a room down in the spa area we could have. I asked if it was for both of us to share as we had only one set of toiletries so didn't want to be going into separate changing rooms etc.I was told yes it was so presumed it was a proper room used for the purpose of late check out clients unfortunate enough not to be able to keep their room.
But no, it was just the usual facilities of a pool. There were 2 showers so swimwear had to be worn which is not ideal and only one of the tiniest changing rooms ever!!
I could hardly turn round and I'm 5ft 2 and a size 8!! my partner at 15 stone and nearly 6ft just couldn't get in there with clothes as well.
We had our suitcase in the middle of the corridor, the haidryer (that was in the ladies toilets was so slow I had to get my own out and go into the hair salon and dry it myself.
We were told to be quiet by someone doing a massage, and we were only talking...a completely hideous experience to end the break.
There must have been a normal room that we could have showered in decently??
This was not a standard of service I would have expected from an allegedly 5* hotel.
Would I stay again? yes I would but not with a late flight home!!!!

Grand Villa's Only Redeeming Quality - It's Location
2010-02-06

Other than the Grand Villa's location being walking distance to old town Dubrovnik, the hotel has nothing else to offer - bad service, old, musty rooms that haven't been upgraded in decades, a pathetic "spa" and a tired, overpriced restaurant menu. >>> more
Excellent service and location

Although quite pricey this hotel is well worth considering. It has a brilliant location on the sea side within close proximity of the old city. >>> more
Mixed review

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the GVA in early September. The location was wonderful! Our balcony room in the hotel provided gorgeous views of Old Dubrovnik for evening drinks. >>> more
