Hotel Lapad

Four Star Hotels
Hotel Lapad is one of the oldest hotels in the Dubrovnik region and has a long and wealthy tradition. In 2008 the hotel was completely renovated. Hotel Lapad is situated on the eastern side of the Dubrovnik peninsular and the old wing of the hotel is a perfect example of traditional Dubrovnik architecture. The distance from the hotel to the centre of the Old City is around 2 – 3 kilometres and a popular beach is a 15 minute walk away.

Hotel Lapad has a total of 157 elegantly furnished rooms and 6 apartments. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, the majority have a balcony and the luxurious superior rooms have both a balcony and a sea view. All rooms also contain a safe and Internet connection. Apart from the main hotel restaurant there is also a garden restaurant, TV salon and aperitif bar. For the guests of the hotel there is an outside swimming pool at their disposal. Through the summer months the hotel organises entertainment and live music, fun in the pool and once a week there are “Dalmatian Evenings”.

For those guests who wish to experience “real local life” in Dubrovnik there are small boats outside the hotel which will take you to the local market. There you can see a spectrum of colours, scents and tastes as the local produce is sold, from fresh juicy fruit and vegetables to local wines and spirits. Hotel Lapad is a great choice for those companies looking to organise smaller seminars and presentations as a conference hall with a capacity for 70 people is contained in the hotel.
Hotel Lapad is open during the season from early spring to the autumn.

Montenegro Tour
2010-02-06

We are in the middle of our stay at Hotel Lapad, and would recommend it highly. However, yesterday we went on an organised tour of Montenegro. We were up at 5.30 as the bus was collecting us at 6.30. A 'continental breakfast' was left for us in the dining room, ie a few slices of bread with different things to put on it varying from Pate to Marmalade! A carton of fruit juce each, and a thermos of what turned out to be cold tea. As the breakfasts were starting to be laid out, we did have access to the cereals, but nothing hot. The rep had told us we would need Euros for the trip, but not to worry as we could pick them up as soon as we landed there. Onto the bus - and a tour around several hotels to collect. It seems apparent that timetables do not matter to some people, and we had to wait quite often. The result - an hour or so after we left our hotel we were back opposite it - which would have taken us 10 minutes to walk. Two hours on the catamarran in a lower deck with cramped seats and little view did not improve our mood. As we approached the 'fjord' we were allowed up on deck - but only for 20 minutes in rotation. Off the boat, straight onto a bus. No chance to get Euros. The guide had good English although a little quaint (Madonna had manifested at Buda! then we realised that she, and the Rolling Stones had appeared there in concert). A fantastic, if heart stopping climb up into the mountains, culminated in a stop at an old taverna where for a couple of Euros you could buy a sandwich of local cured ham and cheese, and drinks. Luckily we were able to borrow some. Be warned - this is the only food you will have time for - so eat on the boat if you can. Back on the bus - where only people less than 5' can sit straight, and then more upwards climbing. After that we were on what could only be described as a whistle stop tour. We visited a 'Palace' now a museum in the old capital , had to wait to get in (and a chance to get Euros), it was interesting, but we were given no chance to look around the town. Back in the bus, and off somewhere else, a stop for the loos and a drink (Buda?) and off again. Back to where we started off from, a quick guided tour, a quick drink and back on the boat. No chance to spend the Euros we got! Back on the boat for 5.30 - this time we escaped and sat with another group - they had leg room (and heck, we understand French). The 'you'll be back by 6.30' quoted by the rep was actually after 8.30. A hunt for the coach (just too tired to walk although it would have been quicker). Sorry about the moaning, but 400 Kuna, although not unreasonable for the trip was too much really for the day we had. Had the rep said take Euros with you, you won't be back until 8.30, and at your hotel, have another hour in bed, (and a cooked breakfast) and walk round to the port he would have had 5 happier people this morning. * We had a previous trip to Mostar, but we were warned it was a coach trip - we had good breaks on the way, and we did get time to ourselves there. It was very interesting and informative - although a bit hard on the feet , due to the cobble stones- if you have problems walking possibly not for you.
