The worst hotel experience of my life..

We booked the hotel because the description of 'small, friendly. family run' sounded great. But the reality was just the opposite. We had booked half board (DBB) but only ate the first night in the 'restaurant' which was like a works canteen. Very poor menu, eg overcooked poor quality steak, uneatable fish, stale bread, overcooked vegetables. Breakfast even worse; fresh fruit was half a banana or remnants of diced tinned fruit. We had to beg for brown toast. The butter was a wrapped pat cut into two and floating in (luke warm) 'so called 'iced' water... Hot breakfast was poor - watery scrambled egg such as we ate after world war two! Front of house staff polite but restaurant staff very surly and very unhelpful - as though we were doing them a favour by staying there. Outside pool did not have enough cushions on deckchairs so guests had to be crafty and 'steal' other guests ' cushions or else sit on plastic cahirs in the hot sun. Too few sun brollies. In the corridiors there were cigarette ends lying all week on the floor.... After complaining to the representative and the tour company (verbally and in writing) all we had was a half hearted letter saying other guests thought it OK. WHATEVER YOU DO AVOID THIS HOTEL. It is a good job that we were able to enjoy the sunshine and eat well in the Old Town.
