Hotel Ariston

Luxury Hotels
Hotel Ariston is located directly on the coastline of the Lapad peninsular on Babin Kuk. The hotel is well connected to the Old City of Dubrovnik, which is only 5 kilometres away, and surrounded by the crystal clear Adriatic Sea on one side and a rich Mediterranean forest to the other. Hotel Ariston is a great for those seeking a peaceful holiday in a resort not far away from the centre.

The hotel has 115 modern and functional rooms of which 62 have a lovely view over the sea. All rooms are air-conditioned, have Internet connection, satellite TV and a mini-bar. Guests to Hotel Ariston have the choice of two restaurants, the buffet restaurant “Mediteraneo” and the a la carte restaurant “Zoe”. There are also three bars – aperitif, beach and lounge bar. For those whose idea of a holiday is not just relaxing Hotel Ariston has a beach which for the last few years has been awarded the “Blue Flag” for cleanliness and quality.

After exercising in the fitness centre you can unwind in the hotel’s sauna or take a massage in the spa centre. If you choose Hotel Ariston for your next congress or seminar there are conference halls at your disposal. The largest of which, “Coral”, has a capacity for 240 participants in a “theatre” style seating arrangement or 120 in a “workshop” style arrangement. Hotel Ariston is open throughout the whole year.

A few shortcomings

We stayed in three other hotels whilst in Croatia and did not experience any problems with paying the bill until we stayed at Importanne Resort/Hotel Ariston/ Hotel Neptun. We booked direct with the sales department and had been given a price per night of 180 Euro/122GBP but not a price in Kuna. When we were checking out we were overcharged in Kuna and told that the exchange rate had changed since we made the booking (in Euro's, even though they are not in the Eurozone).
We spoke with the Manager and were shown the computer screen and informed that there was nothing they could do, so we had to pay the bill whivh was over 100GBP more for a six night stay.
On the first day we had to change rooms because the sliding panoramic door would not close. We changed to an upper story room in Ariston which was quite nice and roomy. However, we had the same issued with the door as have previous occupants owing to the damage to the wall. They sent a hanyman promptly who showd us the correct way to shut the door as the bellboy did not.
The sunbathing area is left dirty and uncleaned from the previous days use, eg. cigartte butts, banana skins, empty water and beer bottles lying around. Beware also, if you are expecting a tranquil sunbathing day forget it. The bathing area is open to the public (no beach area in Croatia is private and open to everyone, alledgedly). On weekdays at approximately 4pm the local schoolkids flock to the bathing area unsupervised as do adults too. They will take the sunbeds and parasols but for some reason don't take the hotel towels though. On the week-ends the place will swell in numbers as the locals get the bus and drive up to the resort area and use the Dubrovnik's pool and beach as well as Importanne.
At breakfast you will have to get one of the staff to bring you coffee to the table, they seem reluctant to float around with coffee. The breakfast is pretty average for a 4* hotel, but this is a Croatian rating and I would suggest that it is nearer to 3* but this is not reflected in the prices they charge.
I personally would not stay there again, but the views were magnificent.

What a view

As others have stated on the site, we were upgraded on arrival from the Neptun to the Ariston. What a great start to the holiday, and thanks to the hotel, who didn't make a big deal of it. >>> more
