Hotel Excelsior

Luxury Hotels
Hotel Excelsior is located directly on the sea, just a few minutes walk from the heart of the Old City of Dubrovnik. It is made up two buildings, a modern and older one, both of which were fully renovated in 2007 and 2008.

Hotel Excelsior has around 150 rooms and 18 apartments. The hotel’s facilities are truly impressive, a large wellness centre with inside pools, stone beaches, a restaurant with a terrace and view of the Old City, fully equipped conference halls and many other amenities that make the hotel an ideal choice for business guests and leisure guests alike.

All areas and spaces in the hotel have a feel of luxury and taste and the service of Hotel Excelsior is famous for its care and professionalism.

Hotel Excelsior is part of the ALH group, in the same group as Hotel Bellevue and Dubrovnik Palace, and the whole group is renowned for its high standards. One could conclude from observing the interior that the hotel is modern yet not avant-garde. The goal of the designer was to create relaxed Mediterranean surroundings using natural materials wherever possible.

Even though most of the guests to the hotel are foreign, Hotel Excelsior is often used by people from Dubrovnik, especially for weddings and other special occasions and the hotels Palm Terrace is ideal for such events.

Perfect hotel with excellent views
2010-02-06

We absolutely loved this hotel. When the cab driver took us there from the ferry terminal we thought it was too far away from the town, but once there and taking the walking road, it takes only 7 minutes to reach the Old Town. Not only the location was excellent and convenient, but the views were spectacular  you see Lokrum island in front of you and the Old Town to the right  both at day and night, sunrise and sunset, are absolutely gorgeous views to enjoy. Room and hotel were extremely clean.

The room was great. Nice size, comfortable bed, big bathroom and plenty of closet space. We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the water. It had sliding doors, a balcony with table and chairs and the most amazing view of Lokrum island and the Old Town.

Beach/pool  the concrete beach is well situated and has plenty of umbrellas and chairs. There is always someone there to help with chairs and towels. The water is crystal clear and it has a pretty big designated area for swimming. The pool/Jacuzzi/sauna area is amazing  all very modern, immaculate, and with open windows to the sea.

Food - We ate at the hotel all the time and were very pleased with the quality of the food. The breakfast buffet was extremely good, with a very large selection of hot foods, cold cuts, breads, pastries, fruits and juices. For lunch we use the restaurant terrace, again with the great view. Service was slow there and even one day I had to wait about 40 minutes for a club sandwich! Another night we ate at a different terrace as the hotel was offering a special BBQ buffet for 250 kn per person (excluding drinks). The buffet was excellent  many kinds of grilled fish, meats and chicken, selection of veggies, salads and outstanding desserts (I went overboard on them), highly recommended. Plus they had decorated the terrace with lights, flowers and candles and with the view of the Old Town it was a perfect setting. Plus they had live Croatian music which added to the magic. Another night we ate at the Japanese restaurant, also sitting outside with the Old Town view. Food and service there was very good. Another night we ordered room service which was also good.

The hotel staff was very efficient (again, with some slow exception at lunchtime in the restaurant terrace). The reception, guest services and breakfast staff were particularly attentive. The cleaning staff would come in the afternoons and leave chocolates in the room. Guest services helped me call a doctor to come to the hotel for my husband which turned out good, fast, and charged very reasonably - 400 kn.

Transportation - Taxi to the airport was 250 kn and to the ferry terminal 100 kn.

We highly recommend this hotel.

Enviable views

The Hotel Excelsior was the most beautiful hotel we ever stayed. The view was magical in a very superb room. The room was spacious, modern and had a very luxiorous bathroom (complimentary Aveda products!). Our room faced the Adriatic and Lokrum Island providing enviable and unparalleled views I still dream about. >>> more
Fantastic location, fantastic hotel.

Six of us stayed here in early December. Our rooms were large, modern with balconies that overlooked the Adriatic and also had stunning views of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the City Gates. >>> more
